Protect Your Car's Paint From The Sun | Lewisville, TX

Here in Texas, the hot sun can be scorching during summer and cause damage to your car. Without proper protection, your car’s paint can fade when sitting in the sun day after day. With just a little work, you can help protect your paint from intense sun damage. Here’s what our service experts at Lewisville Volkswagen recommend doing.

Wash it seasonally

Washing your car every couple months can help remove dirt and bird poop that can damage the clear coat and paint underneath. Be sure you park your car in a shaded area while washing so the soap and dirty water do not dry before you can rinse it off. Normally, you only need to scrub it seasonally, unless it gets particularly dirty.

Add some wax

After washing it, apply a fresh coat of wax to provide another layer of protection against the ultraviolet rays of the sun.

Park in the shade

Parking in the shade not only gives your car’s paint a break, but it can keep the interior a little bit cooler. Try to find a parking spot that will be in the shade when you return to your car.

Cover your car

At home, park in your garage or car port whenever possible. If you don’t have one, invest in a fitted car cover to protect your car from the elements.

If your car’s air conditioning or engine are acting up during this sweltering summer, bring your car to Lewisville Volkswagen’s service center. We’ll be happy to check it out for you.
