ICYMI: VW Debuted “Obi-Wan Kenobi”-Inspired ID. Buzz Models

Are you ready to say “Hello there!” to the van of the future? Then the Volkswagen ID. Buzz is the vehicle you’re looking for!

Volkswagen used the recent Obi Wan-Kenobi limited series to showcase a comeback of its own: the VW Microbus. Receiving a next-century update, the iconic miniature bus runs entirely on electricity and has taken on a new name as the ID. Buzz.

In collaboration with Star Wars, the automaker creature two exclusive editions of the upcoming ID. Buzz, which both debuted on the red carpet at this year’s Star Wars Celebration.

The ID. Buzz ‘Light Side Edition’ features blue and off-white exterior coloring that evokes the color palate of Kenobi’s wardrobe. Those are contrasted by chrome body panels that resemble the metal-plated droids and spacecraft from the franchise.
The ID. Buzz ‘Dark Side Edition’ takes its style from Obi-Wan’s nemesis and former padawan, Darth Vader. The blacked-out exterior with crimson red accents is reminiscent of the menacing Sith lord.

Advertising for the all-electric ID. Buzz was created in partnership with Lucasfilm and I.L.M., two of the most influential companies in Hollywood — or the universe, for that matter. While you can’t buy these licensed Star Wars I.D. Buzz models, you can ride home in a production version of the electric Microbus.
