VW Interior

Who doesn’t love the feel of climbing into a brand new car where everything is shiny, new, and clean? That is a feeling we would all enjoy. However, most of us won’t step foot in a brand new car very often. That doesn’t mean you have to forgo that feeling. In fact, a simple detailed cleaning of your car, like the professionals would do, gives you that same clean, fresh, new feeling.

Blow out the Vents

One of the best things about a new car is the new car smell. That is a smell that simply comes from a clean interior and, most importantly, clean vents. Over time, you may dust and keep your car wiped down, but you don’t clean past where you can see in the vents. Dirt builds up inside your vents, taking away from the clean smell. So before you clean anything else, take a compressed air gun and blow out all the dirt. Just make sure you do this first so that any blowing dirt doesn’t get on other areas you already cleaned.

Vacuum and Clean Carpets

Next, you will want to take time getting your vacuum into every nook and cranny and removing all the dirt from the carpet and upholstery. Remove the rugs from the car, and vacuum all around. If you see any stuck-on spots, use a good household carpet cleaner and scrub the spots. Let the spot remover dry, and vacuum the area clean. Repeat this process again if it needs additional stain removal.

Wipe Down Dash, Doors, and More

Next, you will want to use an all-purpose cleaner to wipe down your dash, console, doors, steering wheel, and any area that is not fabric, leather, or glass. There is no need to buy different types of cleaners for your vinyl and plastic parts, but you may want to consider a protective coating for your dash. Over time, the sun can dry and damage the plastic and vinyl. Products such as Armor All clean and protect you vinyl and plastic.

Clean the Leather

Leather seats get dirty just like cloth seats do. And when they get dirty, they don’t look very good. To restore your leather seats to their original beauty, you simply need to clean them. Find a cleaner that is made for leather, and wipe away all the grimy dirt. Once you’re done, your leather will look beautiful.

Wash the Windows

Last but not least, you want to clean all the glass and mirrors in your car. Although you may be tempted to do so after you vacuum, you really should wait until all the other cleanings are completed. Sometimes when you are wiping the dash or other areas down, you accidentally bump the windows with your rag, which leaves smudges. By waiting to clean windows last, you are ensuring that everything stays clean.

All of these tips and tricks are simple and easy to do yourself, so head out to your Volkswagen and detail it like the professionals.
